Capturing Magic: Beauty in the everyday moments.

As a lifestyle photographer in Melbourne, I have the privilege of capturing the essence of family life in all its beautiful, chaotic glory. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a delightful family of four: mum, dad, their 6-year-old and 4-year-old daughters, and their lovable dog, Penny.

We began the session with some posed shots at the front door. The girls, radiating joy and excitement, had chosen their own outfits, complete with blue high heels from Kmart. They brought along their most cherished comfort toys, adding a personal touch to the photos. As they danced to Taylor Swift, we managed to get some heartwarming shots with Penny before the youngest started to feel the chill.

Despite our attempts to keep her warm with a blanket, the youngest decided she wanted to go inside. So, we transitioned the shoot indoors, embracing the natural flow of the day. Inside, the youngest crafted with her dad at the kitchen island, while the eldest read books with her mum on the couch. These moments of quiet interaction and connection were truly special.

At one point, the youngest decided she was done with photos, but I knew we needed a few more shots to complete the story. With a bit of gentle coaxing, I persuaded her to read her favorite book to her dad. The resulting photos were nothing short of magical. Her initial reluctance turned into big smiles as she got into the spirit of the shoot again.

The eldest daughter, on the other hand, was a natural in front of the camera. She loved posing and brought so much energy and enthusiasm to the session. Her joy was contagious and added a wonderful dynamic to the photos.

We wrapped up the shoot in the kitchen, where the kids continued crafting, even covering their faces in sticky tape, while mum and dad chatted and cooked. These candid moments captured the true essence of family life – a blend of fun, creativity, and togetherness.

This session was a joy from start to finish. The family's warmth and love for each other shone through in every frame, making my job an absolute delight. Thank you to this wonderful family for allowing me to capture your beautiful moments.
